Contemporary Dance especially ‘African Contemporary Dance’ (CONTE) and why the word Contemporary? Whom are we feeding with our ‘underdeveloped’ dance techniques / routines which aren’t there in the first place. Is Contemporary African Dance not just a neo- colonial terminology to let Africans feel like they are also ‘Busy with dance-theatre’?

With sincere respect for Germaine Acogny a notable founder of Contemporary African Dance, she always auditions his contemporary dancers with a starting point of good Ballet technique.

But just before that get the history and (R) evolution of Contemporary Dance before wanting to (De)contemporize what you don’t own in the first place? Or could we also look at it as a point of entrance to be continued………?
